Nigeria international Paul Onuachu has given reason for his early exit on his Trabzonspor debut in Turkey.
The Southampton loanee started on a good note as he found the back of the net in his debut as Onuachu scored in the 29th minute of the game to mark his first goal since leaving KRC Genk in January.
The former Genk forward joined Trabzonspor on a season-long loan from Southampton after having no impact in the Saints setup that saw them relegated to the Championship.
In the match against Besiktas JK, the Nigerian sustained a knock from a rough tackle by Salih Ucan. He, however managed to connect with Enis Bardhi’s cross with a beautiful header that gave the home team the lead.
Speaking after the match, Onuachu expressed his joy at scoring his first goal in Turkey, explaining his injury.
“I am proud to score a goal in my first match. Everyone fought hard,” the Nigeria forward told media.
“I think my injury is not very serious. I left the game to prevent it from getting worse.”
