Paul Onuachu fires again as red-hot Nigerian striker bags brace in Trabzonspor comeback win

By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

Paul Onuachu continued his sensational scoring form netting a brilliant brace to lead Trabzonspor to a 3–1 comeback victory over Konyaspor in the Turkish Süper Lig on Saturday.

The in-form Nigerian striker drew Trabzonspor level from the penalty spot with a calm, clinical finish before completing the turnaround with his second of the night — a well-taken effort that showcased his trademark composure and aerial dominance inside the box.

The double takes Onuachu’s tally to 11 goals this season, further underlining his status as one of the most lethal forwards in Europe at the moment.

He has now scored four goals in his last three matches, a streak of form that has placed him firmly in the Golden Boot conversation.

Trabzonspor’s revival in the match was sparked by Onuachu’s leadership in attack, as the team recovered from an early setback to secure three crucial points.

His presence, movement, and finishing proved decisive once again.

With the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) approaching, Onuachu’s blistering form raises a major talking point for Super Eagles manager Eric Chelle.

Leaving out a striker this prolific would be difficult to justify, especially given his consistency and match-winning contributions.

If he maintains this level, the towering No. 9 could be one of Nigeria’s most important weapons heading into the continental showpiece.
