Nigeria forward Paul Onuachu stole the headlines on Saturday with a spectacular brace, including a sensational overhead kick as Trabzonspor edged Fatih Karagümrük 4–3 in a pulsating Turkish Süper Lig encounter at the Atatürk Olimpiyat Stadium in Istanbul.
The rollercoaster contest began with Trabzonspor taking the lead in the 19th minute through Felipe Augusto, who calmly converted a pass from Wagner Pina.
The hosts responded swiftly, with Tiago Çukur firing home the equaliser in the 28th minute.
Onuachu restored Trabzonspor’s lead in memorable fashion seven minutes later, connecting acrobatically with another delivery from Pina to send an overhead kick into the bottom corner — a goal already being touted as a potential 2025 FIFA Puskás Award nominee.
The Nigerian striker made it 3–1 just before halftime, converting a penalty awarded after VAR review confirmed a foul inside the box.
Despite dominating much of the second half, Karagümrük failed to convert their chances. Trabzonspor capitalized in the 88th minute, adding a fourth goal that appeared to seal the result.
However, late drama ensued in stoppage time as David Datro Fofana netted twice in quick succession to bring the scoreline to 4–3. Nevertheless, Trabzonspor held firm to claim all three points.
Onuachu was named Man of the Match for his clinical finishing and all-round performance, further reinforcing his reputation as one of Europe’s most in-form strikers this season.
