Peter Etebo vow to help Nigeria qualify for 2026 World Cup

By Olu Dare

Peter Etebo has vowed to help Nigeria qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup to be co-hosted by Canada, Mexico and the United States of America.

The Super Eagles missed out of the ongoing tournament taking place in Qatar, having lost to Ghana in the play-off round.

Still sad about missing out of World Cup 2022, the hard-tackling midfielder talked about the sweet memories of the 2018 edition staged in Russia.

Regardless, claimed that he would be doing all it takes to ensure the three-time African champions does not miss out of the next one.

“I have had good memories, was at the last edition in Russia and I had hopes of playing in Qatar, but it was not meant to be,” the former Watford star told BrilaFM.

“It hurts not playing in Qatar but as a team, we will ensure we qualify for the next edition.”

Nigeria are on course to qualify for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations set for Ivory Coast following their strong start in the qualifying campaign.

They won their opener 2-1 against Guinea-Bissau and demolished Sao Tome Principe 10-0 in matchday two of Group A. They will resume their qualification campaign with a clash against Guinea-Bissau on March 20, 2023, at Abuja National Stadium.
