Peter Olayinka’s late strike seals 10-man Slavia Prague win over FK Pardubice

By Monsurah Olatunji

Nigeria international Peter Olayinka scored late to ease nerves, helping 10-man Slavia Prague beat FK Pardubice 2-0 in a Czech First League encounter on Saturday.
Slavia Prague went ahead in the 19th minute of the game after a Pardubice player illegally handled the ball in the 18-yard area. The referee Jan Machalek awarded a penalty after a VAR review.
Vaclav Jurecka stepped up and confidently slotted past Florin Nita in goal to give the visitors the lead. A moment of panic arose as Slavia were reduced to ten players when Aiham Ousou saw his second yellow card on the 90th minute after returning on the pitch.
However, Olayinka stepped up for his team and eased nerves as he took a well-weighted pass into his stride and finished into the bottom right corner to seal the win for Slavia in the 96th minute.
Olayinka who has reached a pre-contract agreement with Serbian side Red Star Belgrade has scored five goals in 11 games for Slavia and has scored 43 goals in his 173 games for them while assisting another 25.
Meanwhile his compatriot, Igoh Ogbu, who joined the club in the January transfer window, was an unused substitute for Slavia.
Slavia remain top of the Czech First League with four points gap and will next welcome Brno on February 11.
