Peterborough’s David Ajiboye on target against Tottenham Hotspur

By Monsurah Olatunji

Nigerian international David Ajiboye scored the consolatory goal for Peterborough U21 team in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Premier side Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday afternoon.
David moves to League One side Peterborough on a three-year deal after three great seasons at Sutton United, which included a run to the EFL Trophy final in April 2022.
The 24-year-old dropped down to the youth ranks in a bid to step up his match fitness as he only had four appearances off the bench in the league.
Ajiboye collected the ball and drove into the box, firing an effort across Alfie Whiteman into the bottom corner on 69 minutes to reduce the deficit after going 3-0 behind against an experienced Spurs.
Pleased with the effort of his side, Peterborough’s head coach Ryan Semple believes it’s the type of game that his team needed to test, develop and improve ahead of an important game.
“They had players with Premier League and Champions League appearances under their belts, so it was a fantastic experience for all the players to go head-to-head with them,” Ryan Semple said after the game.
The friendly is part of preparations ahead of their Premier League Cup fixture against Brentford B next Monday.
