Plateau United face Kano Pillars with five players unavailable through injury
Plateau United will be without five players when they host Kano Pillars in Sunday’s Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, Matchday 8 fixture at the New Jos Stadium.
The Peace Boys are dealing with a number of injury concerns as they prepare to return to action following last weekend’s 2-0 defeat by Enyimba in Aba.
Monami Vongsuou and ThankGod Chinemeze are recovering from knee injuries, while Seiyefa Jackson remains out with a rib fracture. Utin Ikowem is also unavailable after suffering an ankle sprain.
The injured players are expected to continue their rehabilitation while Plateau United focus on recovering from their first defeat in five matches. The loss to Enyimba ended a four-game unbeaten run for the Jos-based side.
Plateau United will hope that home advantage and the backing of their supporters can help them return to winning form. They will also need to be more effective in attack and avoid the defensive mistakes that contributed to their defeat in Aba.
Kano Pillars arrive in Jos after drawing each of their past four league matches. Their latest game ended goalless against Shooting Stars, following previous stalemates with Sporting Lagos, Enyimba and Inter Lagos.
That sequence reflects the Sai Masu Gida’s ability to remain difficult to beat, but also their failure to turn recent draws into victories.
Sunday’s meeting will therefore give Plateau United an opportunity to put their campaign back on course, while Kano Pillars will be seeking to end their run of consecutive draws.
