President of Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR), has sent a heartfelt message to the senior women’s national team, ahead of their much-anticipated 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) final against host nation Morocco, taking place tonight at the Olympic Stadium in Rabat.

In a statement issued today, President Tinubu praised the team’s outstanding performance throughout the tournament, applauding their determination, resilience, and sportsmanship.

“Your performance at this tournament over the past three weeks has been awe-inspiring,” the President said.

“You have represented our country with pride, honour, and strength—both on and off the pitch.”

Highlighting a touching moment following the semi-final triumph against South Africa, the President commended the team’s visit to injured South African player Gabriela Salgado, calling it an act of “compassion that reflects our shared humanity and African sisterhood.”

The Super Falcons, who remain unbeaten throughout the tournament and boast nine previous WAFCON titles, head into the final aiming for a historic 10th continental crown.

“If statistics alone win matches, you are already champions,” President Tinubu declared, expressing confidence in the team’s ability to finish strong.

To underscore the nation’s full support, the President announced the deployment of a presidential delegation to Rabat to cheer the team to victory and convey the goodwill of the Nigerian people.

“On behalf of a grateful nation, we are rooting for you and praying for your resounding success. Go for the tenth! Bring the trophy home,” he added.

President Tinubu also extended appreciation to the team’s families, coaches, fans, the Nigerian community in Morocco, and the Nigeria Football Supporters Club for their unwavering support throughout the competition.

He concluded with a message of hope and anticipation:

“By the grace of God, you will finish strong. I look forward to receiving the team, the trophy, and officials in Abuja.”

A win for the Super Falcons will extend their dominace to a record extending 10th title while the Atlas Lionesses attempt to win their first ever title in their second attempt after losing the 2022 finals against South Africa.
