Qatar 2022: Costa Rica defeat Super Eagles 2-0 in international friendly

Two goals, each from two halves was all Costa Rica needed to beat Nigeria in their last warm-up game ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
The Americans in the early hours of Thursday scored the first goal in the 7th when Oscar Duarte shot beat Super Eagles goalkeeper, Bankole to unsettle the home-based Nigeria national team.
The early goal at the National Stadium, San Jose as a wake up call for the 2013 African champions to be able to defend the slim loss till the end of the half.
On resumption of the second half, Costa Rica took dominance of the game but could not record another goal until 17 minutes to the end of the match. Kendall Waston’s header to the top roof of the goal post sealed Tico win ahead of their world cup outing.
Costa Rica are participating in the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar and as part of their preparations, they decided to take on Super Eagles being one of the strongest team in Africa.
Having lost their two friendly matches to Algeria and Costa Rica, Nigeria will face another World Cup bound country, Portugal on 17th November, 2022.
