Villarreal boss Quique Setién has heaped plaudits on Samuel Chukwueze following his goal-scoring heroics against Valencia with the Spaniard saying the Nigerian is at a good level.
The Nigeria international has struggled for a starting role at the Spanish outfit. having frequently featured as a late substitute under immediate past manager Unai Emery before the arrival of Setien.
However, Chukwueze put up a fine display against Valencia as his left footed shot from the centre of the box set up Gerard Moreno to cancel out Edison Cavani’s late first half strike – something that impressed his manager Setien.
“He (Chukwueze) is a player who was already important before my arrival, and now, he is at a good level,” Setien told reporters.
“Where I have had to think the most has been in the top positions, I have six players who could have started perfectly. Both Samu and the rest know that they have to give things to keep their position.”
The 23-year-old made his 180th appearance across all competitions for the Yellow Submarines as he registered his 30th career goal for the Spanish outfit in a 2-1 win over Valencia in their La Liga fixture.
