Ralf Rangnick apologizes to Man United fans after Brighton loss

Manchester United interim manager Ralf Rangnick has apologized to the club fans following their humiliating defeat at the hands of Brighton.
United went 4-0 down in the tie and according to the German, while speaking after the match, his team had a terrible performance.
“It was a terrible performance. From the first until the last minute, it was not enough. We can only apologize for this performance and a humiliating defeat,” he said.
Despite the disappointing outing, Rangnick insisted that his players did their best to follow his game plan but they were simply not able to stop Brighton from running riot.
“We were never in a position where we could stop them playing through our lines. We told the players to be as compact as they could but we couldn’t stop it.
“I don’t think they ignored the game plan but we weren’t able to stop them. We gave them too much space and if you do that against a technically good team like Brighton, you will get punished,” he added.
Goals from Moises Caicedo, Marc Cucurella, Pascal Gross and Leandro Trossard secured an easy win for the Seagulls with United now assured of having their worst finish in the Premier League era.
