Rasheed Akanbi wins Moldovan SuperLiga Player of the Year with Sheriff Tiraspol

Nigeria-eligible and Sheriff Tiraspol striker, Rasheed Akanbi has been voted as Moldovan’s topflight league-best striker for the year 2022.

On the completion of the Moldovan Superliga,  Sheriff Tiraspol was crowned champions, where Akanbi played an impactful role with six goals in 12 matches.

The Nigerian international was voted by fans and experts as the League Best Striker for 2022 following his immense contribution to the emergence of Sheriff Tiraspol as League winner.

The 23-year-old started his professional football career with Turkish campaigners, Menemenspor in 2020.

In his one-year stint, he scored 12 goals in 46 games before teaming up with, Kocaelispor in 2022 then moved to join Sheriff Tiraspol in the same year.

He was part of the team that played against Manchester United in the UEFA Europa League and scored against Francis Uzoho’s Omonia Nicosia home and away.

He is also instrumental as Sheriff Tiraspol made history by becoming the first club from the Moldovan Super Liga to reach the last 16 of a European competition in the UEFA Conference League.
