Remo Stars have confirmed their plans to launch a professional women’s team.

The Sky Blues are the one of the current Nigeria Premier Football League clubs not to have a senior women’s side.

They have seen the likes of Rivers Angels and Bayelsa Queens shine on the domestic and African front and have been under increasing pressure to have a presence on the women’s stage.

Confirming the development, Remo Stars Chief Executive Officer, Adedoyin Ogungbefun, who spoke at the annual SheFootball Conference in Lagos, said there’s a plan to have a women’s football club.

“Yes, there is plan for us to have a women’s team because we have plans for it already,” Ogungbefun exclusively told nigeriafootball.ng.

“Women clubs are not like male clubs, it is not an open-end thing, we can’t just say we want to do open scouting because of the peculiarity of their nature, we are working on the club and by the grace of God next year we should have a women’s football club.”

He added that they partnered with the Sheconference to discover young girls that will be developed and norture to stardom.
“We partnered this conference to get players from the grassroots to give them time to develop.”
Remo stars were founded in 2016 by Kunle Soname played in the Nigerian first-tier league, the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), and are one of the most advanced and well-structured privately runned teams in the country with well-equipped academy.

The She Football Conference is an annual developmental initiative organized by former Super Falcons star Ayisat Yusuf-Aromire through her foundation to empower young female football players.
