Revelation Cup: Ashleigh Plumptre talks up Nigeria’s readiness ahead of Mexico clash

Nigeria defender, Ashleigh Plumptre believes her side is fully ready and good shape to excel at the inaugural edition of the Revelation Cup in Leon, Mexico.
The Super Falcons will kick start their campaign in the Revelation Cup against Mexico on Wednesday evening and Leicester City star reveals the team’s mission is to prove their worth by getting back to winning ways.
“We play in every game and we try to win. We put our best forward, compete with the best of our abilities to make sure we get the results,” Plumptre told NFFTV.
“I’ve prepared myself the same way for every game. So I’m just feeling myself this morning because the flight was very long, so I just hit the gym to make the body take over and yes, we are ready to go.”
Plumptre represented England at the youth level before switching to Nigeria the country of her paternal grandfather in 2021. After a training camp in Nigeria in November 2021, she was cleared by FIFA to play for Nigeria officially.
The 24-year-old made her official debut for Nigeria on the 18th of February 2022 as she started in the game against Ivory Coast in an African Women Cup of Nations qualifiers which the Super Falcons won 2-0.
Till date, she has become an integral part of the Super Falcons’ fold and will be eager to make a mark in Mexico.
