Rinsola Babajide provides assist as AS Roma cruise into UEFA Women’s Champions League Round 3

By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

Nigeria forward Rinsola Babajide registered an assist as Italian giants AS Roma secured a dominant 5-1 victory over Sparta Prague to book their place in the 2025/26 UEFA Women’s Champions League Round three.

Emilie Haavi opened the scoring on the half-hour mark at the Stadium Prosek, Prague, before Lucia Di Guglielmo doubled Roma’s lead in the 52nd minute.

Midfielder Manuela Giugliano struck twice (55’, 72’) to put the visitors firmly in control.

Babajide, introduced in the 71st minute for Alayah Pilgrim, made an immediate impact by setting up substitute Marta Pandini for Roma’s fifth goal.

Sparta Prague’s Aneta Dedinova pulled one back late on, but it proved only a consolation.

The assist was Babajide’s second in consecutive Champions League matches, underlining her growing influence for the Italian side since joining them earlier this year.

The forward has played a key role for Roma following her successful campaign with Nigeria at the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), where she lifted the continental title.

With this emphatic result, AS Roma advance confidently into the round three of the Qualifiers of Europe’s premier club competition.
