Everton are once again circling Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi, with the Merseyside club ready to activate the £9 million release clause in his contract following Leicester City’s relegation from the Premier League.
Despite signing a three-year contract extension with Leicester in July 2024, Ndidi may be on the move this summer, with Everton manager David Moyes reportedly eager to bolster his midfield options after an inconsistent campaign.
According to Football Insider, the Toffees are closely monitoring the situation and are expected to submit a formal offer to the Foxes in the coming days.
The potential deal presents an opportunity for Ndidi to make an immediate return to top-flight football — a move that is said to appeal to the Nigerian international.
Former Manchester United and Blackburn Rovers chief scout Mick Brown has confirmed Everton’s long-standing interest in the 27-year-old, revealing that the club has been tracking him for some time and now feels ready to push forward decisively.
Often compared to N’Golo Kanté for his tireless work rate and ball-winning abilities, Ndidi remains a key figure in Leicester’s setup, having made 30 appearances across all competitions during the 2024–25 season.
With Everton looking to rebuild and add steel to their midfield, Ndidi could prove a smart and cost-effective acquisition — if they can fend off potential competition and close the deal swiftly.
