Nigerian striker Chuba Akpom is on the verge of leaving Ajax, with reports confirming that he is undergoing medicals ahead of a potential move to French Ligue 1 side, Lille.

Akpom, who has struggled for game time at Ajax this season, is set to join Lille on a loan deal, with an option for a permanent transfer. The 29-year-old forward scored eight goals and provided one assist in 32 appearances for the Eredivisie giants.

Lille reportedly reached an agreement with Ajax on Friday to secure the services of Akpom, who has yet to make his debut for the Super Eagles despite being called up twice.

With Lille preparing to part ways with Ivorian striker Mohamed Bayo, who is set for a loan move to Belgian club Antwerp, Akpom’s arrival will provide vital depth and experience to their forward line as they look to strengthen their squad for the rest of the season.
