Rumour Mills: Gift Orban set to leave Lyon after one year

Nigeria star Gift Orban may be on his way out of Lyon after just one year with the Ligue 1 side, as he seeks more playing time.

Orban, who transferred from Belgian club Gent to Lyon for €14 million in January 2023, impressed with 20 goals in 22 appearances for Gent.

However, his time at Lyon has been less successful, with limited opportunities under coach Pierre Sage and no appearances since the Ligue 1 season began.

The arrival of Georges Mikautadze, a top scorer from the 2024 European Championship, has further diminished Orban’s prospects at Lyon.

According to Le Progres, Orban’s situation is not due to injury but rather Sage’s decision.

With the transfer window closing in five days, Orban faces uncertainty about his future as Lyon considers offloading him this season.
