Rumour Mills: Osimhen makes Napoli return for preseason amid transfer uncertainty

By Oluwadamilola Olaleye

Victor Osimhen is expected to return to Napoli for pre-season training in mid-July as transfer talks surrounding the Nigerian striker remain unresolved.

The 25-year-old, who spent last season on loan at Turkish champions Galatasaray, is due back at his parent club as Napoli prepares to begin its 2025/26 campaign between July 14 and 15.

Osimhen has been at the center of intense transfer speculation this summer, drawing interest from several top European clubs and receiving a lucrative offer from Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal—an offer he reportedly turned down.

Despite the rejection, Al-Hilal remains interested, though time is running out for the Saudi club to complete a deal, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

While Napoli and Osimhen are reportedly open to a mutual separation, no agreement has been reached. Should the situation remain unresolved, the striker will be expected to report for preseason with the rest of the squad.

Napoli’s management has made it clear that Osimhen will be reintegrated into the team’s training plans if no transfer materializes before mid-July.

Osimhen, who was a key figure in Napoli’s 2022/23 Serie A title win, remains under contract with the club.
