Rumour Mills: Transfer setback as Emmanuel Dennis’ return to Watford collapses

By Wale Mustapha

Nigerian forward Emmanuel Dennis will not be rejoining Watford—for now—as the Championship side has pulled out of a potential deal to re-sign the Super Eagles striker.

Dennis, who terminated his contract with Premier League club Nottingham Forest in August, has been training with Watford in recent weeks, hoping to secure a return to the club where he enjoyed a successful stint in the 2021/22 season.

The 26-year-old was reportedly close to signing a one-and-a-half-year deal with the Hornets, but the Watford Observer reports that the club has had a change of heart and decided to shelve the move—at least until the January transfer window.

While no official reason was given for the decision, sources suggest the club may revisit the option in the winter window, depending on squad needs and performance in the coming months.

Dennis previously made 35 Premier League appearances for Watford, scoring 10 goals before his move to Nottingham Forest in 2022.
