Sabo Okala: Confluence Queens coach targets top spot ahead of final hurdle

By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

After sealing qualification for the season-ending Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership Super Six, the head coach of Confluence Queens, Sabo Okala is focusing on finishing top of the group.

The Lokoja-based outfit have guaranteed their place in the Super Six finals and will now face Group A leaders, Nasarawa Amazons in an outright duel to the top of the table.

With two points separating both sides, Okala hopes to pick all three points in the final game of the regular season.

“We are fully focused on the game against Amazons,” Okala told Confluence Queens Media.

“It is a game that Confluence Queens must win. I see Wednesday’s game as a great opportunity for us to go top and we will go all out to win.”

In terms of motivation for the game, the former Honey Badgers gaffer stated that topping the table with a win is enough motivating factor.

“The context is clear. If we win, we go top of the table. We don’t need anything else to be motivated,” he added.

The reverse fixture ended 1-0 in favour of the Solid Miners as Ojiyovwi Kesiena’s goal separated both sides.

The two Northern sides face off in a highly anticipated game fit to wrap up the regular season.
