Samson Siasia: Former Nigeria coach reacts after losing appeal against FIFA ban in US
By Wale Mustapha
Former Head Coach of Nigeria’s senior national team Samson Siasia has responded to his defeat at the US court in appeal against  the five year ban placed on him by world football governing body, FIFA over match fixing crimes.
In 2019, Siasia was banned from using his US Soccer federation coaching Licence and was given a life time ban for alleged violation of code of ethics over a bribery scandal for Australian league matches.
However, the lifelong ban was later commuted to five years. Despite the positive development, the Olympic Silver winning coach took FIFA to court in August 2021, accusing the world governing body of acting on grossly insufficient evidence and denial of his entitled right under the United States Constitution.
The court however, dismissed Siasia’s claims and have upheld the stance of FIFA claiming that court is not in a position to grant a verdict and the former Super Eagles coach took to social media to explain situation of things.
“Well it’s ok. I was trying to get a compensation for what FIFA did to me, there is nothing wrong with trying to fight for your right,” Siasia said.
