Samson Unuanel has suggested the combination of Victor Osimhen and Victor Boniface to lead Super Eagles’ front line against Sao Tome and Principe in Uyo.
Nigeria will be taking on small football nation in African for the African Cup of Nations qualifying match in Uyo on Sunday with just a draw needed to secure the final Group A top spot for the tournament with a match to spare.
Coach Jose Peserio who recently renewed his contract as Super Eagles’ handler has invited 23 players for the encounter with both Osimhen and Boniface in the list.
Both strikers have started this season on an impressive notes for their respective clubs with Osimhen scoring three goals for Napoli in Serie A while Boniface has netted four times for Bayer Leverkusen.
Coach Unuanel who has managed top clubs in Nigerian topflight, including Kano Pillars, Kwara United, Sunshine Stars among others believed having the two strikers starting against Sao Tome will be very deadly and bring more goals for the country.
“I am really delighted with the array of strikers we have in the Super Eagles, most especially with the invitation of Victor Boniface, who has been painting the Bundesliga with goals.
“I really want to see what his partnership with Osimhen would look like against Sao Tome. That is if the Super Eagles coach deems it fit to pair the two players together.
“No doubt, it will be a deadly combo because Boniface and Osimhen are potential goal scorers. They will be difficult to handle by any opponent.”
