Samuel Chukwueze records historic appearance for Villarreal

Villarreal playmaker, Samuel Chukwueze made history as he became the club’s youngest player to record 200 appearances for the LaLiga club in all competitions.

Chukwueze achieved the feat in the 4-2 victory against Espanyol on Thursday night.

The 24-year-old joined Villarreal from Diamond Football Academy in 2018 and has gone on to become one of the influential players for the Yellow Submarines.

A breakdown of the appearance figure shows, Chukwueze made 148 appearances in Laliga, nine in the UEFA Champions League, 20 in the UEFA Europa League, nine in the UEFA Europa Conference League and 14 in the Spanish Copa del Rey.

Real Madrid is among the host of clubs been linked to Chukwueze since he scored two goals against the European champions at the Santiago Bernabeu this season.

Villarreal next game is against Celta Vigo in the Spanish Laliga and they are seated fifth on the Laliga table with 50 points from 31 matches as they chase a Champions League spot for next season.
