Senegal youngster Amara Diouf breaks Nigeria’s Victor Osimhen U17 Afcon record

Captain of Senegal U17 side, Amara Diouf has surpassed Victor Osimhen record with with a brace against South Africa on Wednesday.
Senegal continued their fiery tale dominance in the ongoing 2023 U17 Africa Cup of Nations with a 5-0 whipping of South Africa’s Amajimbos in the first quarter-final clash of the competition taking place in Algeria.
Diouf has now surpassed the record of Nigeria international Osimhen, who scored four goals in the 2015 edition of the tournament.
With her exploits, the Senegalese youngster is prime to be named the most valuable player of the tournament as the 14-year-old has now won three man of the match awards in four matches to ensure his side pick a World Cup ticket.
This is the first time that Senegal have progressed beyond the group stages of the U17 AFCON and the Young Teranga Lions also remain the only team yet to concede a goal in the current U17 continental championship.
Speaking after the match, Diouf expressed it’s his dream to have a successful senior career like Osimhen, who recently powered Napoli to their first Italian Serie A title in 33 years.
“I dream of being like him [Victor Osimhen]. Why not?,” the Senegalese youngster told CAFOnline.com.
“I am hugely honored to be named man of the match and more so for Senegal to win the game and qualify for the World Cup. It is a big achievement for us as players and it motivates us moving forward.”
