Serie A: Ademola Lookman scores to save Atalanta from Genoa heartbreak

Nigeria striker, Ademola Lookman helped Atalanta secured their fourth successive Serie A home victories in a gritty 2-0 triumph over hard fighting Genoa on Sunday.
The Super Eagles forward was paired with Italian forward, Gianluca Scammaca in the attack for Le Dea but had to labor for long period against a resolute Genoa defense.
Both sides shared honors in the first half with end to end opportunities but with Genoa posing more threats.
However, the hosts stepped up their game in the second half with more purpose and vigor. They would then benefitted from one of the attacks as Lookman, who celebrated his 26th birthday on Friday got himself a special presents as he curled home from edge of the box for his third goal of the season.
He would have to celebrate the goal twice as it had to be checked by VAR as the referee thought he handled the ball in the buildup.
Genoa went close to equalized soon after but Albert Gudmundsson had his effort hit the outside of the post.
Atalanta put the tie beyond the reach of their visitors as Brazilian forward, Ederson scored the second goal in the added time.
The victory did not only pushed Atalanta up to sixth on the Serie A log but a needed morale booster ahead of their Thursday’s Europa League clash against Stum Graz in Austria.
