Serie A: Maduka Okoye vows to come back stronger after successful surgery

By Wale Mustapha

Nigeria and Udinese goalkeeper, Maduka Okoye, has expressed his determination to return stronger following a successful surgery on his wrist.

The Super Eagles’ shot-stopper underwent the operation on Tuesday after aggravating an injury during Udinese’s Serie A clash against Genoa last week.

The 24-year-old had been playing with a broken ligament in his hand for the past two months but is now focused on his recovery.

In a message shared on X (formerly Twitter), Okoye thanked Dr. Pigoli and his team for the successful surgery and revealed his mental readiness to begin the rehabilitation process.

“Surgery is done, Big thanks to Dr. Pigoli and his team! Played the last 2 months with a broken ligament in my hand,” Okoye wrote.

“For now, I’ll be supporting the team from the stands, recovering and working hard for a comeback in top form! See you soon.”

Okoye has made 14 league appearances for Udinese this season and is now focused on regaining full fitness for a return to action.
