Sunday Oliseh: Nigeria legend blasts Super Eagles after Lesotho draw in Uyo

By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

Former Nigeria International, Sunday Oliseh has blasted Nigeria’s senior men’s national team after a 1-1 draw with Lesotho in the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers opener in Uyo on Thursday.

Jose Peseior’s side had to come from behind to secure a 1-1 draw against the Crocodilles as Semi Ajayi’s second-half header canceled out Motlomelo Mkhwanazifor’s opener for the visitors.

Oliseh feels an assembled home-based team could get the deserved result against the Southern Africans.

“Haba This nightmare go ever end? Woke up to this shocker this morning,” the former Nigeria captain and coach, posted on his X handle on Friday.

“Our Home-based suppose dey beat Lesotho na! Dem even first us score!!!! “The painful part be say, no consequences for these national embarrassments self!.”

Meanwhile, The Super Eagles’ delegation to Sunday’s 2026 FIFA World Cup African qualification series Day 2 encounter against the Warriors of Zimbabwe will arrive in Rwanda – Zimbabwe’s adopted home – in the early hours of Saturday.

The delegation of players and officials will travel to East Africa aboard a chartered aircraft that will depart from the Victor Attah International Airport by midnight, and touch down in Kigali at dawn, before a two-hour road trip to Butare, the city where the match venue (Huye Stadium) is located.

With Rwanda on the high-altitude plane, it was decided that the Eagles fly into the country, have their official training session, and play the match before the unfamiliar climate began to take its toll.
