Colombia 2024: Burundi edge Congo to set up possible date with Nigeria

Burundi women’s U-20 side scaled through the hurdle of the Democratic Republic of Congo to book a place in the final qualifying round for the 2024 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.
Annociatte Nshimirimana’s seventh-minute goal for Burundi lifted the team to a 1-0 win in the return leg of the third round clash.
The contest was evened at 3-3 on aggregate but Burundi made it to the final qualifying round on away goal rule.
The first leg had ended 3-2 in favour of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Burundi will face either Nigeria or Tanzania in the final qualifying round to determine the team that will make it to the next FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.
The first leg of the game between Nigeria and Tanzania ended in a 1-1 draw in Sar es Salaam.
Chioma Olise’s opener for Nigeria was canceled by an equaliser by the host from Asnath Ubamba in the second half.
The return leg will be held on Sunday, November 19, 2023.
