Sunshine Stars, Queens retain Ondo State FA Cup title

Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) side, Sunshine Stars have retained the Ondo State FA Cup after a 4-0 win over Adamimogo FC.

The Akure-based side couldn’t find the breakthrough in the first half but the tide of the game changed in the second half at the Ondo State Sports Complex.

The introduction of Jide Jimoh ensured a change in the score line as the substitute scored a hat trick to help Edith Agoye’s side to the 2023 FA Cup victory.

Jimoh went on to break the deadlock in the 53rd minute after a beautiful team play and made it two for his side to relax the nerves of the NPFL side in the 58th minute.

Chukwudi Stephen made it 3-0 before Jimoh completed his hat-trick from the penalty kick spot after he was brought down inside the box.

The finalists will represent Ondo State at the 2023 Federation Cup.

In the women’s category, Sunshine Queens also retained the Ondo State FA Cup title. The second-tier Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Championship side thrashed FC Unity of Ondo City 8-0 to retain the title.
