By Wale Mustapha

Nigeria are set to reignite their fierce football rivalry with archrivals, the Black Stars of Ghana next month at the 2025 Unity Cup, a prestigious four-nation invitational tournament in London.

The tournament will feature Nigeria, Ghana, Jamaica, and Trinidad and Tobago, with each team aiming to showcase their best ahead of upcoming international fixtures.

The competition will kick off with the first semifinal on May 27, where Jamaica will face Trinidad and Tobago.

The highly anticipated ‘Jollof derby’ between Nigeria and Ghana will take place the following day, May 28, as the two West African giants battle for supremacy.

The third-place match and the final are scheduled for May 31, with the overall winner lifting the coveted Unity Cup 2025 trophy.

In addition to the Unity Cup, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has confirmed another friendly for the Super Eagles against Russia later in June, as part of their preparations for the 2026 World Cup qualifying matches.
