Super Falcons to know WAFCON 2024 foes on Friday

Nigeria’s senior women’s national team will know their opponents for the group stage of the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) group stage this week.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF), in a press release on Sunday, announced that the draw for the next WAFCON will take place on Friday, November 22, 202,4, at the Mohammed VI Technical Centre, Sale, Morocco.

12 teams, including the Super Falcons, which have qualified for the competition, will know their group opponents.

Morocco, South Africa, Nigeria, Algeria, Ghana, Botswana, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Tunisia, Senegal, Zambia, Tanzania, and Mali have qualified for the competition.

Host, Morocco reached the final of the last tournament hosted by the same country as South Africa won their maiden title in 2022.

Nigeria, with nine titles, is the most successful team in the tournament, while Equatorial Guinea has won two titles.

The 2024 WAFCON will take place from 5 to 26 July 2025 in Morocco.
