The Chairman of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Women’s Committee, Aisha Falode believes the senior women’s national team can break Africa’s record and become the first team (men or women) to reach the final of the World Cup.

The Super Falcons have qualified for each edition of the FIFA Women’s World Cup since its inception in 1991 ahead of the Super Eagles.

With the recent feat of not tasting defeat after regulation time at the last FIFA Women’s World Cup, the former Chairperson of the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) is staking her reputation for the nine-time African champion to win the World Cup

“I believe that the Super Falcons will be the first team to win the World Cup or be in the final before the Super Eagles. Even FIFA believe that,” She told Kennis FM.

“The women’s team that will do that for Africa is the Super Falcons. It is on record that has said that. It is not only the voice of the people but the voice of God.

“I bet on it staking my reputation and integrity on it that Super Falcons will be the first African team (men or women) to get to the final and win the World Cup ahead of Super Eagles.”

Randy Waldrum’s side had one of their best outing at the FIFA Women’s World Cup by making it out of a tough group that had Olympic Champions, Canada, co-host, Australia, and the Republic of Ireland.

The team’s best showing at the World Cup remained a quarter final finish t the 1999 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

The West African superpowe will next face Cape Verde in the 2023 Women’s African Cup of Nations (WAFCON) Qualifiers in a bid to return to the continent and reclaim the African title won by South Africa the last time out.
