Taiwo Aganmuyi reveals why she left Rivers Angels for Pacesetter Queens

Taiwo Aganmuyi has explained her decision to leave former Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) champions Rivers Angels for newly promoted Pacesetter Queens ahead of the 2025/2026 season.
The midfielder, who lifted the 2025 Women’s President Federation Cup with Rivers Angels, said her move to the Ibadan-based side was driven purely by her desire for more playing time.
Aganmuyi expressed confidence in her abilities and reaffirmed her determination to help Pacesetter Queens enjoy a successful maiden campaign in the NWFL Premiership.
“Without sounding immodest, as a football player who believes in her ability, I know what I can do on the pitch. I felt I didn’t have enough playing time at Rivers Angels, so I had to move on and see what the future holds with another team,” Aganmuyi told The Hope.
She stressed that her decision was not influenced by financial incentives.
“It’s not about money. If it were about money, I wouldn’t have left Rivers Angels because they paid me well and their welfare package is top-notch. As humans, I need money, but as a professional footballer, what is most important is playing time, and that was why I left the Jewels of Rivers.”
Aganmuyi also clarified that she was not released by the club.
“I was not dropped by the club. They actually expected me to return for the new season, but I considered everything and realised I was not getting enough minutes on the pitch.”
With her switch now complete, Aganmuyi hopes to play a key role as Pacesetter Queens aim to make a strong impression in their debut NWFL Premiership season.
