‘Taking Super Eagles job permanently is tough’ – Augustine Eguavoen

Interim coach of Nigeria’s senior men’s national team, Augustine Eguavoen has admitted that taking the job of Super Eagles permanently is going to be a tough one.
The former defender has been in charge of the team after the unexpected departure of Finidi George.
Eguavoen, who is the head of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Technical Department, says the coaching job of the three-time African champions is not a small task.
“The Super Eagles job I’m doing right now if I were to switch permanently, it’s something I’d need to sit down, reflect, and think deeply about because it’s not a small job,” Eguavoen told Brila FM.
“It’s a tough one; you have to give me a long-term contract with patience and clauses in that contract because winning is not guaranteed every week or day.
“You will give me time to tweak the team till I find what I want.”
Eguavoen was in charge of the team against Benin Republic (3-0) and Rwanda (0-0) during the first two games of the Morocco 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Qualifiers in September.
He is expected to be in charge in the two-legged clash against Libya in their next two games in the Qualifiers.
