“The pitch is really looking nice” – Awaziem hails Godswill Akpabio Stadium ahead of Lesotho duel

Nigeria defender, Chidozie Awaziem has commended the Akwa Ibom State Government for making the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo remain conducive and friendly for football match.
The Boavista center back is in camp for the Super Eagles’ FIFA World Cup qualifying match against Lesotho on Thursday.
Following the choice of the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF for Uyo based Stadium as Super Eagles’ home ground for subsequent qualifying games.
Awaziem who’s making a return to the national team fold since 2019 is expected to have a game in Thursday match and is confident that the pitch’s condition will add to the team’s performance to record victory against the Crocodiles.
“Actually the pitch is really looking nice, they all did well on the pitch. I am giving a big kudos to them for the way they maintained the pitch, it’s really looking nice and can add to how well one play on it,” he told NFF TV.
The utility defender who can also operate as a full back assured Nigerians that the team will do everything to secure the ticket for the 2026 mundial.
“We all want to go to the World Cup, this is our dream and we know Nigerians want to see the Super Eagles in the World Cup,” he continued.
“We also want to be there, we are working hard to make sure we get all the points in these games and focus more on the next round. Right now all the boys are very prepared and we are ready to fight.”
