Three Nigerian players—Rosemary Adesina, Glory Edet, and Yemisi Samuel—helped TP Mazembe secure the bronze medal at the 2025 CAF Women’s Champions League in Egypt on Friday. The 2024 champions defeated hosts FC Masar 3-1 in the third-place match.

Adesina opened the scoring for the DR Congo champions in the 17th minute, finishing off a pass from Kgaelebane Mohlakoana. FC Masar, however, responded three minutes later when Alice Ogebe drove into the box and set up Hasnath Ubamba to level the score.

TP Mazembe regained the lead in the 41st minute through skipper Marlene Yav Kasaj, who converted from the penalty spot. In first-half added time, Yav Kasaj struck again, heading home Mohlakoana’s corner to make it 3-1.

FC Masar—who won bronze ahead of Nigeria’s Edo Queens in 2024—had a chance to reduce the deficit in the 80th minute, but Yassmin Zezo failed to convert from the spot. Mazembe held firm to add a bronze medal to their Champions League title won last year.

Ogebe saw 70 minutes of action for FC Masar as she was replaced by Hala Moustafa after providing an assist which was not enough to help her side retain their bronze medal won in 2024.

Adesina was substituted at halftime for Gifty Assifuah, while Samuel replaced Assifuah in the 90th minute and received a yellow card late in added time. Edet featured for the full duration, earning her second medal with TP Mazembe after becoming the first Nigerian to win the CAF Women’s Champions League in 2024.
