Tigres and Nigeria dealt Uchenna Kanu injury blow
By Saheed Afolabi
Tigres have confirmed Nigeria star Uchenna Kanu has suffered a right calf muscle injury which could rules her out of the February pre-Women’s World Cup camping in the North American country.
The Tigres Femenil forward sustained the injury in a recent encounter and the unfortunte development was confirmed by her Mexican club, Tigres Femenil through their social media handle.
“Uchenna Kanu presented muscle fatigue in the right calf, so her return to group work is subject to evolution,” according to Tigres Femenil.
The 25 year old forward have found the back of the net for Tigres Femenil four times this season in two matches.
There’s no fixed date for her return to full fitness yet but she’s expected to miss some matches.
She is currently the top scorer in the Mexican Liga topflight with five goals in two matches for the Tigres who sit atop the league table with a massive lead.
The injury is a setback for Kanu as the race to stay fit and compete for a place in the Super Falcons squad list for the FIFA Women’s World Cup is a competitive one.
Kanu will be supporting her team from the sideline as she start her recuperation from the injury setback.
