By Monsurah Olatunji

Nigeria’s Tolu Arokodare has responded to bullies affter he suffered racial abuse for his costly penalty miss in Genk’s 3-0 loss to Club Brugge on Sunday.
With two points behind their visitors, the Smurfs had the chance to leapfrog on the league table with a win when they faced third-placed Club Brugge at home.
Sadly, Club Brugge won with goals from Hugo Vetlessen, Denis Odoi, and Andreas Olsen following Arokodare’s costly penalty miss.
Genk made the perfect start to the game and was awarded a penalty in the 18th minute but the 23-year-old squandered the crucial opportunity to convert from the spot.
In the aftermath of the game, Arokodare was subjected to racial abuse on social media but the Nigerian was unfazed by the abuse.
The Genk striker took to his Instagram stories to share screenshots of some racially offensive messages that were sent to him on the photo-sharing platform.
“Black and proud. Thanks to everyone for all the positive messages and support. The ones I play for,” Arokodare wrote on his Instagram story.
