Toni Payne provides fourth WSL assists in Everton’s loss to Brighton

Nigeria star, Toni Payne provided an assist for English Women’s Super League (WSL) side, Everton FC as the team succumbed to a 3-2 loss against Brighton on Sunday.

It took the first nine minutes of the game for Sara Holmgaard to open scoring for the Toffees at Walton Hall Park, Liverpool.

Michelle Agyemang equalised for Brighton in the 21st minute.

Payne set up Katja Snoeijs who restored Brian Sørensen’s side lead in the 23rd minute.

With a minute before end of first half, Frank Kidby equalised for the travelers.

With the match nearing and end, former Manchester United player, Nikita Parris scored the winning goal for Brighton in the additional minutes of the second half.

Payne was replaced by Rikke Madsen in the 81st minute.

She has scored a goal with four assists in the WSL this season.

Everton occupy the eighth position on the table with 20 points from 20 games.

They will next meet Liverpool in the Merseyside derby on May 4, 2025.
