“Too early” – Marco Silva on Samuel Chukwueze’s permanent future at Fulham

By Oluwadamilola Olaleye

Fulham head coach Marco Silva has offered a cautious response regarding Samuel Chukwueze’s long-term future at Craven Cottage, as the Nigerian winger’s loan spell approaches its conclusion.

Chukwueze joined Fulham on loan with an option-to-buy clause, which would allow the club to sign him permanently for a pre-agreed fee of €23 million. However, Fulham is under no obligation to activate the clause at the end of the season.

Asked about the possibility of making the deal permanent, Silva remained measured, emphasising the need to evaluate consistency, training performance, and adaptation to the physical demands of the Premier League.

“Too early, but of course we all recognise the quality that Chukwueze has. We go in the direction to see consistency in the way he’s going to perform, to train every single day, & after, the physical aspect of the Premier League,” Silva said.

Fulham, buoyed by an away win against Sunderland, are preparing to face Tottenham, with Chukwueze hoping to continue playing a pivotal role for the Cottagers.
