Transfer News: Fenerbahce offers Osayi-Samuel lucrative new contract

By Wale Mustapha

Turkish Super Lig giants Fenerbahce have extended a lucrative contract offer to Nigerian defender Bright Osayi-Samuel, whose current deal is set to expire at the end of the season.

The club is eager to secure the services of the 27-year-old Super Eagles fullback, offering him a three-year contract valued at a total of 6 million euros (approximately ₦9 billion).

This new deal comes after Osayi-Samuel had reportedly demanded 2.5 million euros per year in previous contract negotiations, according to Turkish newspaper Sabah via Fanatik.

The offer highlights Fenerbahce’s desire to retain Osayi-Samuel, who has been a key player since joining the club from Queens Park Rangers in January 2021. His future has been the subject of speculation in recent weeks, with multiple clubs, including Crystal Palace, reportedly interested in acquiring him.

Osayi-Samuel was seen attending Crystal Palace’s Premier League match against Arsenal in December, fueling rumors about a possible move to the Eagles.

However, Fenerbahce appears determined to keep the Nigerian international, who has made 19 appearances for the club this season.

Despite the club’s efforts, Osayi-Samuel’s agent has yet to respond to Fenerbahce’s offer, and it remains uncertain whether the fullback will accept the contract extension. With interest from other clubs, including a link to Galatasaray, Osayi-Samuel faces a tough decision regarding his future.

However, Galatasaray insider Nevzat Dindar has recently stated that the Turkish club is not pursuing a move for him.

As things stand, Fenerbahce will be hoping their new contract offer will help sway Osayi-Samuel into staying with the club.
