Turkish football commentator Ertem Şener has delivered sharp criticism of Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen, describing the Nigerian’s display in the 1–1 Istanbul derby draw against Fenerbahçe as his worst since arriving at the club.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Şener said Osimhen struggled to influence the match and repeatedly lost possession in key areas.
“Osimhen played his worst match since his arrival. He kept losing the ball. Osimhen was very bad,” Şener said, as quoted by habersarikirmizi.
Osimhen, who spearheaded Galatasaray’s attack, failed to make a notable impact in a tightly contested derby. Galatasaray opened the scoring through Leroy Sané in the 27th minute before Jhon Durán rescued a point for Fenerbahçe with a stoppage-time equaliser.
The Nigerian forward, who has been hampered by injuries this season, remains one of Galatasaray’s top performers with six Champions League goals and three in the Turkish Süper Lig. However, he is now without a league goal in several matches.
Galatasaray host Samsunspor on Friday, December 5, where Osimhen will aim to rediscover his scoring form.
The 25-year-old is also included in Nigeria’s 54-man provisional squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco later this month.
