U20 Afcon 2023: NFF considering training camp in Morocco or Spain for Flying Eagles
By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde
Nigeria U20 team’s head coach, Ladan Bosso has confirmed that the national U-20 side will have its final training ahead of next year’s African Cup of Nations (AFCON) either in Morocco or Spain.
Flying Eagles last Friday were drawn in the same group as host nation Egypt, Senegal, and Mozambique in what football analysts termed as the group of death and the team is expected return from yuletide break early January.
“The camp will resume January 7 and the training tour will either be in Spain or Morocco,” Bosso said in a radio interview on Sunday.
“We need experience in attack and defence and even if any foreign-based player will join the team, they will be from these departments,” he said.
Nigeria will participate at the U-20 AFCON in Egypt from February 19 and March 11 with the top four teams qualifying for the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Indonesia.
Multiple sources revealed that coach Bosso has sent invitations to players abroad, including AC Milan’s young sensation Victor Eletu, Lekan Oyedele of CD Feirense (Portugal), Abel Ogwuche of Trelleborgs ( Sweden), Ahmed Abdullahi of (Gent ) and Adams Olubi of Zalgiris ( Lithuania).
