U20 Afcon: Flying Eagles secure comeback victory against EFCC in friendly

Nigeria U20 men’s national team continued their high flying build up form as they recorded another 2-1 victory in their preparatory game against EFCC ahead of the 2023 AFCON U20 campaign in Egypt.
The seven-time African champions scored twice in the last 17 minutes of the game to secure comeback victory played at the FIFA Goal Project Pitch on Saturday morning.
The ‘Eagle Eye’ as EFCC are popularly called, took the lead in the 72nd minute through Moshood Danjuma but the Ladan Bosso’s boys responded immediately when Ibrahim Yahaya’s 73rd-minute strike levelled the contest, before Haliru Sarki netted the winner nine minutes later.
The free-scoring Flying Eagles have now scored a total of 18 goals in four friendly games since resuming camp after the yuletide period.
The team won the WAFU Zone B Championship to qualify for the AFCON and will now turn their attention to a double header friendlies against Zambia, with the two matches set for Friday, 27th January and Monday, 30th January 2023 respectively.
The Flying Eagles will campaign in Group A of the tournament where they will face Egypt, Mozambique and Senegal.
The tournament will also serve as qualufiers for the coming FIFA U20 World Cup where all the four semi-finalists in Egypt will qualify automatically to represent Africa at the 23rd FIFA U20 World Cup finals slated for Indonesia from 20th May to 11 June this year.
