Nigeria head coach Jose Peseiro is in Egypt watching and cheering on the Flying Eagles of Nigeria at the U20 Africa Cup of Nations.
The Nigeria U20 men’s national team failed to live up to expectations in their opening-day clash against their West African brothers, Senegal.
Despite stringing together a brilliant run of 16 games without defeat in the build-up to the tournament, Flying Eagles fell to a deserved 1-0 loss to Senegal in their opening Group A game of Egypt 2023.
Souleymane Faye’s opportunist strike, five minutes before the halftime break, was all the Young Lions of Teranga needed to claim the scalp of the seven-time African champions.
However, the Portuguese manager wishes the Ladan Bosso’s led team good luck as the 62-year-old has taken a keen interest in the team having watched them in action against Zambia in a 4-2 friendly win for Nigeria.
“In Egypt to follow the U20 AFCON, in particular of course. The Flying Eagles team to whom I wish good luck for the whole competition!”, Peseiro wrote on official Twitter handle.
Nigeria will have a shot at redemption against host nation Egypt in their second group match.
