Uchenna Kanu starts new Liga MX campaign with hat-trick for UANL Tigres

Nigeria forward Uchenna Kanu opened the 2022/2023 Mexican Liga MX Clausura women season with a hat-trick as UANL Tigres earned a 6-0 win over Atlas.

American forward Mia Fishel gave Tigres a first-half advantage with two goals in the seventh and 31st minutes respectively at the Estadio Universitario San Nicolas de Los Garza.

Kanu increased Tigres’ lead to three in the 51st minute before the former Sevilla forward scored her second goal of the night to make it 4-0 nine minutes later.

Mexican midfielder, Lizbeth Ovalle scored the fifth goal of the game in the 76th minute and Kanu completed her hat trick in the additional minutes of the second half to power her side to a resounding 6-0 win.

The Super Falcons forward played for the duration of the game as she got her 2022/2023 league campaign off to a flying start, with three goals to her name.

The Liga MX Apertura Champions, Tigres extended its winning streak to eight games since a 2-0 loss to Club Leon on October 17, 2022 and they will next square up against UNAM Pumas on January 14, 2023.
