Unity Cup 2025: Nigeria set to tackle Ghana, Trinidad and Tobago and Jamaica at Brentford

The Gtech Community Stadium in Brentford, West London, is set to host the highly anticipated Unity Cup Invitational Tournament, featuring top tier international football from Nigeria, Jamaica, Ghana, and Trinidad & Tobago.
The tournament, which was officially confirmed on Wednesday, will take place over a week in late May 2025.
Rotimi Pedro, of AfroSport, expressed his excitement about bringing back the Unity Cup, saying, “We are proud to bring back The Unity Cup. It’s been a long journey to revive this important community event, and we’re delighted that fans of African and Caribbean football will once again enjoy top tier international football at Unity Cup 2025.”
The tournament will kick off with the first semifinal on Tuesday, May 27, as Trinidad & Tobago takes on Jamaica in the first-ever ‘Trini-Jam’ on UK soil.
The following day, three time African champions Nigeria will face off against four time African champions Ghana in the second semifinal, promising an electrifying match between two continental giants.
Nigeria Football Federation President, Ibrahim Musa Gusau, highlighted the significance of the tournament, stating, “We signed on to the tournament as it offers a vital opportunity for our team to bond ahead of the FIFA World Cup qualifiers in September.”
Super Eagles’ Head Coach, Eric Chelle, added, “We’re looking forward to taking part in the Unity Cup as it will give us the chance to try out a few new players in different roles, helping us to strengthen our squad before the matches in September and October.”
Team captain William Troost-Ekong also expressed his enthusiasm, saying, “This is a great tournament for us to reunite and continue strategizing for the upcoming World Cup qualifying games.”
Marcus Gayle, Brentford FC ambassador and former Jamaican international, welcomed the Unity Cup back to the Gtech Community Stadium, stating, “We’re thrilled to welcome the Unity Cup back and to host it here at the Gtech Community Stadium.
“This tournament will not only showcase elite football talent from Africa and the Caribbean, but also celebrate the deep cultural and sporting ties between these regions.”
The Unity Cup 2025 promises to be an unforgettable experience, combining top class football with a celebration of culture and community spirit.
