By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

Defending champions Edo Queens had a great start to their title defense with a resounding 5-0 bashing of Abia Angels on Wednesday.

Five goals from different players ensured the Benin City-based side secured a straightforward victory to the delight of Uroko Valentina.

“I feel excited and happy after the victory over Abia Angels. I really thank God for everything,” Valentin said after the match.

“My team tried as well. We won the game. I tried to do my best as well not to concede a goal.”

Goals from Miracle Usani, Emem Essien, Goodness Osigwe, Loveth Edeh, and Kafayat Mafishere lifted Moses Aduku’s side and had the best start to the 2024/2025 league campaign.

Uroko stated her personal goals and that of her team this season.

“It can only be God. My main target this season is to lift the league title again with my teammates at Edo Queens and I pray for more winning ahead.” She concluded.

Edo Queens will visit Heartland Queens at the Dan Anyiam Stadium in their next league game on January 22, 2025.
