Victor Moses Eyes BBC African Footballer of the Year Amidst Stellar Year on All Fronts
In a candid interview, Super Eagles forward Victor Moses has expressed his aspiration to cap off a remarkable 2017 by securing the prestigious BBC African Footballer of the Year award. Moses, currently on the shortlist of five for the accolade, outlined his accomplishments, including contributing to Chelsea’s Premier League triumph and aiding Nigeria’s qualification for the upcoming World Cup.
Delighted and proud, Moses reflected on the successful year, stating, “It’s been a great year for me so far. We won the league, we got to the FA Cup final. I really enjoyed the season last year and I’m very happy with how it went. I want to continue in that way.”
Discussing his nomination, Moses credited his hard work and vital role in Chelsea’s league victory. “I must have done well! I have worked so hard to be among the nominees, and I guess they saw that. I played a vital part in our league win, and I am pleased with the way things have been going recently,” he asserted.
Recalling his standout moments with Chelsea, Moses highlighted the euphoria of scoring the winning goal against Spurs and the overall joy of lifting the Premier League trophy. He acknowledged the pivotal role played by Chelsea manager Antonio Conte in his development, expressing pride in the manager’s confidence and belief in his abilities.
Addressing his role with the Nigerian national team, Moses emphasized the progress made in the World Cup qualifiers, particularly his crucial brace against Algeria. He shared his satisfaction with the team’s qualification for the World Cup, stating, “We’ve made the whole nation proud of us, and that’s what we wanted to do. Come Russia, we will be ready to go.”
